Yesterday we brought you news of Tory MEP Roger Helmer’s outrageous views on rape – and the subsequent condemnation from his own party and others. We also reminded you that Helmer has form – he infamously suggested that homosexuality could be treated as a mental health problem.
It seems that Helmer has a large number of views that are well outside of the mainstream. In this video says that he doesn’t believe that climate change is man made, but at the same time seems to argue that “human ingenuity” and “holding our nerve” is neccessary. Not only does he deny climate change – he doesn’t seem to have decided why:
Number Ten were keen to distance themselves from his rape comments yesterday, but the behaviour of Tory MEPs could be an increasing embarrassment for Cameron. They’re the perfect example of the Tory Party that he claims to want to leave behind, yet he’s happy for these relics to remain in Brussels, and as they gain a UKIP MEP today, that’s only going to get worse.
The Tories attacked the so-called “Loony Left” in the 1980’s. This must be the “Loony Right”.
