Pick of the fringe – Sunday

Pick of the fringeEach day of conference we’ll be bringing you our pick of the day’s fringe events. Obviously today the main highlight (as far as we’re concerned) is our fringe event on party reform – featuring Peter Hain MP:

Refounding Labour? Where next for party reform?(in association with the Fabian Society)

Sunday, 8pm – Liverpool Town Hall, West Reception Room

* Drinks provided, but make sure you’re there early before we run out…*

Just hours after the party votes on the new direction of the party after a summer of internal debate, we’ve pulled together some of those involved in the process to talk about where the party needs to go from here – and what we still need to do.

Speakers: Peter Hain MP, Luke Akehurst (NEC), Johanna Baxter (NEC), Alex Smith (former LabourList editor, Ed Miliband aide and consultant to Champollion Digital) – Chair: Emma Burnell

This lunchtime – in a twist on the usual fringe event – the Fabian Society will be conducting a Dragon’s Den to find “One idea to win the next election”.

The Fabian Dragon’s Den – 1pm, Liverpool Town Hall

Andrew Neil is thought of as one of the most difficult interviewers to face – so it will be interesting to see who he’s interviewing today, and how they cope.

BBC Daily Politics, The Andrew Neil interview – 5pm, ACC-BT Convention Centre, Hall 4

In many ways Compass and Progress have been seen as the ying and yang of the party, although as Compass move away from Labour towards a broader “progressive” movement will that remain the same? Whichever one of these you attend says which direction you think the party should be heading in. We’d like to attend both – but they’re on at the same time, so we can’t!

Compass Rally – 6pm, BT Convention Centre, Hall 1b

Progress Rally – 6pm, Pan Am Bar, Albert Dock
