The conference hotel bars aren’t in the secure zone this year – here’s why…

On your way to conference? Planning on spending some time in the conference hotel bar? A quick word of warning – it’s not in the secure zone this year.

Neither the Radisson or the Midland will be inside the main conference zone, meaning you’ll need to go through security whenever you want to go between the hotels and the main conference centre. We understand the party have gone to efforts to reduce the inconvenience this might cause, but the smaller secure zone is likely to be greeted with surprise – and probably disappointment too – by many arriving at conference.

Speaking to LabourList this afternoon a Labour spokesperson said:

“The secure zone at Manchester this year encompasses Manchester Central only. This was a decision made by Greater Manchester Police following a risk assessment made by the Home Office.”
