Shadow Business Minister suggests Cable was “napping” through the growth committee

Shadow Business Secretary Ian Murray MP just got in touch with us about Vince Cable’s forgetful appearance at the BIS select committee. He’s not mincing his words:

The Business Secretary admitted today that the Government’s much lauded Cabinet Growth Committee has not yet met two months since it was announce.  Yet, 45 minutes later said that it had met twice but he was unable to tell the Select Committee who was in attendance, what the membership was or what was on the agenda.

“How can it have met twice if the Government can’t tell me in a Parliamentary Question what the membership is?”

“The Business Secretary said at Lib Dem Conference that he struggles to get through the day without a nap, perhaps he was napping through this committee.  This highlights that the Government are in complete disarray on growth and have no answers to the problems in the economy.”
