Labour’s local election PPB – entitled “Made by the Many” will be on TV tomorrow, but the party have released it online this afternoon. The aim of the broadcast is to highlight “the forgotten wealth creators” who “learn, teach, build, make, buy and sell” and keep our country going. In the broadcast, Ed Miliband says:
“We can turn Britain round, but only if we have a recovery made by the many – the people who have put in the hours, who do the shifts, the people who open their shops early in the morning. The people who look after our kids, care for the elderly, who tend to the sick.
“You need a government that really looks out for you and if we were in government now we would be cancelling that millionaires’ tax cut and protecting the tax credits that make work pay.
“We’d be having a real jobs guarantee, real rights to work and real responsibilities to do so. We’d be introducing a mansion tax on homes above two million pounds so we can bring back a ten pence starting rate of tax. And we would be taking on those energy companies that rip people off and the train companies that put the price of the daily commute out of reach.
“We can change Britain, with a recovery made by the many.”
