Away from the Thatcher funeral, there’s an important piece of news that shouldn’t be overlooked – and which on most days would be leading the news bulletins – unemployment is on the rise:
- Unemployment rose by 70,000 to 2.56 million
- Youth unemployment rose by 20,000 to 979,000
- 900,000 people have been out of work for over a year
- The unemployment rate rising now stands at 7.9%
The Tories will be relieved that this won’t be today’s top headline…
