Community General Secretary Michael Leahy OBE announced today at Community’s biennial conference his plan to retire later this year. Leahy took up the post in 1999 after previously being the union’s Assistant General Secretary, and is also a Member of the General Council and Executive Council of the TUC.
Earlier this week – in what proved to be his final conference speech – he attacked plans for a General Strike.
A General Secretary election will follow in due course…
