This morning Tony Blair told the Today programme:
“I wrote before the vote that I thought we had to support action in Syria and I said after the vote that I was disappointed by it. So this is something where I just have to disagree with the leadership of the party”
“I don’t think it was necessary to divide the House on a vote that could have led to a vote but he took the decision that it was”
“I said after the vote that I was disappointed by it. So this is something where I just have to disagree with the leadership of the party. But I know it’s a difficult position for political leaders to be put in when they’ve got to take decisions like this, but my position on these issues is pretty clear over a long period of time.”
Miliband has yet to respond – but he hasn’t been afraid to hit back at criticism from Blair in the past…
