Shadow minister quits the front bench – is the reshuffle about to get underway?

Last week I reported that the Labour reshuffle was most likely to happen this week, but rumours were circulating in Brighton that it could even have started last week. So far, we’re still waiting for the reshuffle to kick off, and well connected individuals within the party have told e this week probably won’t be reshuffle week now either.

But today a shadow minister has quit the front bench – and that’s got people wondering whether the reshuffle might be close after all.

Rob Flello, a junior shadow minister in the Justice team, has quit the Labour front bench to focus on “other interests”. Now it may well be that he’s decided that front bench politics isn’t for him (although he ran for the Shadow Cabinet back in 2010, so he must have ambition) – or perhaps this is the first shadow minister jumping before the reshuffle pushes him?

We’ll bring you all of the reshuffle news as and when it happens…
