There are already nearly a dozen potential Labour candidates for London Mayor – but another has been chucked into the mix today.
In the Sunday People, Policy Chief Jon Cruddas suggested that Doreen Lawrence – campaigner, mother of Stephen Lawrence and now a Baroness – might be in the running. The Dagenham MP wrote:
“She’s a class act and going from strength to strength. People in Westminster are -starting to tip her as a potential mayor for our capital city. Now that is an interesting idea.”
There’s been little indication that Lawrence would seek such a position, but her candidacy would certainly garner a great deal of interest if it came about.
