A YouGov poll today has found that Labour are ahead of the SNP in the constituency voting intentions for Holyrood – the first time since the start of this year.
The figures, published today, shows that when it comes to Holyrood voting intentions, Labour has a 2 point lead over the SNP (37-35). Meaning that in the past 2 weeks, there’s been a four point swing from the SNP to Labour . In terms of the regional vote, Labour is now 6 points in front of the nationalist party led by Alex Salmond (35-29)
In response to this news, Anas Sarwar, Deputy Leader of Scottish Labour has said:
“If Scottish Labour continues to build on this lead in the polls, we can look forward to a Labour Government in 2016 with Johann Lamont as Scotland’s First Minister. We know we still have some way to go but these latest polls are very encouraging and show that people are once more looking to Labour as the party which best stands up for them and can deliver real economic and social change.
“In elections for Holyrood, local government and Europe, people have been switching from the SNP to Labour in their droves. It’s clear that the people of Scotland see in the SNP a leadership which cannot be trusted and party prepared to put their own constitutional interests before Scotland’s.
“We are determined to build on the significant progress we have made and fight for every vote between now and 2016 so that we win the referendum, return Labour to power in the UK and elect Johann Lamont as First Minister.”
