West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner by-election date announced

Following the death of the Labour Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, Bob Jones, earlier this week, a by-election date has been announced. The by-election was triggered by two electors this morning, and will take place on the 21st August.

The West Mids Police and Crime Panel will select an interim commisioner on 14th July.

In addition, some have reacted with anger after reports that a dudley ukip council candidate called the election before Bob’s funeral has even been arranged. Bob’s widow Sarah said, “to call an election before Bob is even put to rest is disrespectful to Bob and all his good work”.

LabourList will cover the selection process for the the Labour candidate, as well as the election itself.
