A Lord Ashcroft poll published today shows Labour are on course to win a significant number of target seats from the Lib Dems next year. This follows previous Ashcroft polling that shows Labour in the lead in key Labour/Tory marginals ahead of the next election.
According to today’s poll, Labour would take seats from the Lib Dems in Redcar, Hornsey & Wood Green, Cambridge and Cardiff Central. The poll also has Labour’s Neil Coyle only 1% behind Lib Dem stalwart Simon Hughes in Bermondsey and Old Southwark. That obviously bodes well for Labour in other Lib/Lab target seats that have yet to be polled.
Meanwhile at Tory Conference, the Guardian reports Ashcroft telling a ConHome event today that Labour are on course for a “comfortable majority” based on current polling.
