Parliament will reconvene tomorrow to discuss the UK Government’s decision to commit to airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq. These airstrikes come as response to a call from the Iraqi Government for international support in the fight against ISIL, and following a Shadow Cabinet meeting in Manchester yesterday, Labour have moved to support the intervention.
We want to know whether you support the airstrikes.
There are currently no plans to deploy ground troops in Iraq, but if the problem of ISIL continues to deteriorate, it could quickly move onto the agenda.
If this happens, would you consider supporting the deployment of ground troops?
Over the border in Syria, Labour take a different line. Miliband suggests that he will only offer support for airstrikes there if the Government can confirm support from the international community through a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution. However, it is believed this may be difficult to procure, as Russia and China could veto the airstrikes.
