Weekly Survey: EU bill and the Scottish Labour leadership race

have your say ll (long)

On Friday, we discovered that the UK Government owes the European Union more money than it has paid over the last 20 years – to the tune of around £1.7billion. Mark Ferguson wasn’t happy and new Shadow Europe Minister Pat McFadden described it as “unacceptable” – although he claimed that ministers had known about it for a week.

Is this fair? Does the blame lie with the British Government? Should we pay it at all? Let us know your thoughts.

The timetable for the Scottish Labour leadership contest has now been set out, with the winner declared on December 13th.

But is this long enough to have a debate about the future of the party? Or is too long – do we need a new leader to get going sooner rather than later, with so little time left until the general election? We want your thoughts.

Lamont’s departure was not the cheeriest walk away from the limelight, with accusations abound that the UK Labour Party would make decisions without consulting the Scottish Labour Party.

Do you see this as a problem? Does the Scottish Labour Party need more autonomy from the UK Labour Party to make decisions? Or should the will of the UK Labour leader be more important?

Our weekly survey will be open until noon on Thursday. You can vote here.
