Figures released today show that the NHS in England’s performance on four-hour waiting time targets has dropped to it’s lowest since they were introduced in 2004.
The NHS missed it’s targets between October and December – 92.6% of patients were seen in four hours, meaning that 8% had to wait more than this.
This makes it the second time the Coalition have missed this target; between January and March in 2013 6% of people weren’t seen in four hours.
Dr Cliff Mann, from the of the College of Emergency Medicine, told the BBC that hospital were at a “tipping point”.
