Labour announce applications to be Bradford West candidate – following Ali’s resignation – must be in by Friday

The Labour Party have announced the deadline for applications to be Labour’s candidate in Bradford West, the seat currently held by Respect’s George Galloway.

This comes after it was confirmed yesterday that Amina Ali had resigned from the position – only three days after she was chosen to be the candidate. Despite many other rumours circulating, in a statement,  Ali said she decided she could not move her children away from London – where they all currently live – and relocate them to Bradford, particularly because of the disruption this would cause to their education.

The deadlines for applications is tomorrow, Friday 27th February, at noon. The National Executive Committee’s Special Selections Panel will then hold interviews  on this coming Monday (2nd March) in London . It will, as before, be an All-Woman Shortlist.

We’ll let you know once the candidate is announced.
