Labour has a 9 point lead in key marginals, new poll finds

A ComRes poll for ITV has shown Labour taking a significant lead in 40 seats the polling company have deemed the key marginal seats in England and Wales.

Of the 1,004 people asked in Labour/Conservative swing seats (25 of which are Conservative-held and 15 are Labour) 40% said they would vote Labour while only 31% said Conservative.

This is not a huge swing since ComRes did this same polling in November – when Labour were on 39% and the Tories on 31%. Here are the results in full:

Lab 40% (+1), Con 31% (NC), Ukip 15% (-3), Lib Dem 8% (+1), Greens 5% (+1)

Interestingly, when asked about their voting intentions, 66% said they chose the party which has the best policies on issues important to them, whilst only 12% said party leader was most important to them. Just 5% said they’d vote for the party that has the best chance of beating another Party that I don’t like. Don’t bet on too much tactical voting then…
