Three Sunday polls give Labour a small lead

Polling_Station_2008-1

There are three polls out in today’s papers – and all give Labour a small lead with less than three months to go until election day:

Opinium: CON 33% LAB 35% LD 8% UKIP 14% GRN 6%

ComRes: CON 32% LAB  34% LD  7% UKIP 16% GRN  4%

YouGov: CON 32%, LAB 35%, LDEM 7%, UKIP 15%, GRN 7%

A few months ago it was possible to say poll leads (and vote shares) of this size would have been enough for a (small) Labour majority. But now that’s not just a question for national polls, but Scottish ones too…

Our independent journalists have been on the ground during this local and by-election campaign, which marks the first key electoral test of Keir Starmer’s government.

We’ve been out and about with Labour activists and candidates across the country from Bristol to Hull, and will soon be heading to Cambridgeshire and Lancashire – as well as Runcorn and Helsby. We’ve also polled readers for their views on the campaign.
