Cooper calls for Home Secretary to come clean over lobbying on behalf of convicted criminal

The front page of today’s Independent will make uncomfortable reading for the Home Secretary:

It has been revealed that she lobbied numerous bodies on behalf of a convicted criminal as he attempted to secure a government loan. However she has refused to reveal which official bodies were contacted on Charles Henry Mogford’s behalf – release the correspondence involved. Understandably, Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper wants answers:

“I’m afraid its not good enough for Theresa May to refuse to answer questions or provide any details about her lobbying activities on behalf of Charles Henry Mogford.

“The position of Home Secretary demands full public confidence and she should provide details of who and what organisations she lobbied to obtain loans from the government for her constituent and whether any checks were done before she did so.”

You can imagine the attention this would get if it were a Labour Home Secretary, yet the Tory press seem strangely silent on this. How odd…
