After five years, everything comes down to tomorrow. With the polls still close, Ed Miliband has released his final call to the British people to vote Labour. Here it is:
“Today you can vote for a Labour government that stands up for working people, you can vote to put your NHS and your family first.
“If you do that today, then tomorrow you won’t have to wake up to the news that five years of the Tories has turned into a Tory decade – a decade where only the privileged few will do well, where there will be one rule for a few and another for everyone else.
“So the stakes are high in these crucial hours today.
“But I’m not asking you simply to vote Labour. I’m asking you to vote to reward hard work again, to build a future for all our young people, and to rescue our NHS.
“And I’m not simply asking you to reject the Conservatives, I’m asking you to reject the Tories’ plan that always puts the rich and powerful first, to double the cuts next year and risk devastating our NHS – to reject their boasts about a recovery that only reaches the City of London and leaves young people locked out of opportunity, burdened with debts and with dreams of a decent future fading away.
“All this is on your ballot paper today.
“It’s the closest election for a generation. It’s the most important election for a generation. It is the clearest choice that has been put before the British people for a generation.
“We have hours left to change the direction of our country, to build a Britain that succeeds because working people succeed. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your neighbours how important their choice is for all of you. For your families, for your NHS, for your country – vote Labour.”
