Tom Watson has been elected deputy leader of the Labour party with 198,962 votes.
Labour announced the results of their leadership election at an special conference in central London this morning. Watson was elected with 50.7% of the vote in the third round. The other four candidates in the contest were Stella Creasy, Angela Eagle, Caroline Flint and Ben Bradshaw. Creasy came in second with 26.4%, and Flint third with 22.8% in the final round. Bradshaw was eliminated in the first round, and Eagle in the second.
The selectorate was made up of party members, registered supporters – who paid £3 to vote – and trade union affiliates. The breakdown of the result is here:
