McDonnell and Cooper among top figures to appear at LabourList conference events

John McDonnell and Yvette Cooper are among senior party figures who will appear at LabourList events when Conference kicks off in Liverpool.

The annual jamboree begins on Sunday but is preceded tomorrow by Women’s Conference and the result of the leadership contest.

McDonnell, the shadow Chancellor, and a host of current and former frontbenchers will take part in the LabourList rally, which is happening on Sunday evening between 7pm and 8.30pm. Alongside the guests are Steve Turner, assistant general secretary of Unite, Liz Kendall, a former leadership contender, writer Owen Jones, Clive Lewis, the shadow Defence Secretary, and Dan Jarvis, the highly respected MP for Barnsley Central and former paratrooper.

LabourList will host seven further events in partnership with a number of other organisations. Highlights include the women’s political blogging session on Sunday at 9am and an analysis of what Brexit means for students, universities and the Government’s higher education agenda with MillionPlus, the NUS and LabourList senior staff writer Conor Pope.

Don’t miss “A year in polling”, where Survation’s Damian Lyons Lowe, Graham Jones, MP for Hyndburn, LabourList editor Peter Edwards and former PPCs will discuss exclusive new polling on the party’s performance since over the last year. And, on Monday afternoon, How do we get politicians who look like us? will see shadow minister Cat Smith, Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees and LabourList columnist Maya Goodfellow discuss devolution and how to achieve a more representative politics.
