Weekly survey: Orgreave, expanding Heathrow and standing in Richmond Park

have your say ll (long)

After last week’s call from senior Labour MPs for the party to stand down from the Richmond Park by-election, officials made clear the seat will be contested and the selection timetable has now been confirmed. We ask, should the Labour party fight Richmond this autumn?

Theresa May’s decision to agree to the expansion of Heathrow airport prompted intense debate within Labour and across politics and even shadow chancellor John McDonnell described Zac Goldsmith as “honourable” because of his decision to trigger the by-election, so we ask whether Labour should oppose the construction of a third runway at Heathrow.

Labour MPs were united in their anger at the Tories’ decision to rule out a fresh investigation into the Battle of Orgreave more than 30 years ago. Should there now be a full inquiry into Orgreave?
