The Brexit select committee has announced its first witnesses in its investigations into EU withdrawal.

In his first witness evidence gathering since becoming chair of the high profile committee, Hilary Benn will have three witnesses provide evidence tomorrow.

The witnesses will provide evidence on the themes of the process and timing of the UK’s negotiations with the EU and will question whether the Government has the “capacity and resources” required to fulfil its objectives alongside other topics.

The witnesses are:

  • Dr Hannah White, director of research at the Institute for Government
  • Sir Simon Fraser, formerly the permanent under-secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
  • Professor Catherine Barnard, Professor of European Union Law and the Jean Monnet Chair of EU law, University of Cambridge
