Brown reassures party faithful

From @LabourList

As the PM spoke to Labour members in East London this afternoon, Nick Robinson has given the PM 5 reasons to be cheerful.

1. There is no plan to unveil a list of backbenchers calling for him to go tomorrow morning.

2. James Purnell is not planning a resignation statement. He believes that he’s said enough and now it’s up to others.

3. Hazel Blears’ resignation statement will focus on policy.

4. Caroline Flint is is not planning a resignation statement. Implausible assassin though she is, she too will not provide a Geoffrey Howe moment.

5. Jon Cruddas says it would be “madness” to throw Gordon Brown overboard.
