Two more British soliders have been killed in Afghanistan today, but Brigadier Tim Radford, the commander of UK forces in Afghanistan, has hailed Operation Panther’s Claw a success as the first stage draws to an end.
The operation came to a close as David Miliband urged Afghanistan’s leaders to begin to build a political coalition to include some of the country’s more moderate insurgents.
Gordon Brown of the new announcement:
“Our stretegy has always been to compliment military action with putting in more money to build up the Afghan forces and the institutoins of society, and bringing over those elements that can now work within the process; it’s a civilian and military strategy.”
