Today’s Queen’s Speech will be an important opportunity for Labour to lay out what it will do for the remainder of this Parliament, and will also begin to draw further dividing lines with the Tories and signal the beginning of the long general election campaign.
Expect the Speech to include:
* A Financial Services Bill to further regulate banking.
* Personal social care for the elderly.
* Cuts across Whitehall and further proposals for reducing the deficit.
* Guarantees for cancer patients on the NHS.
* An Education and Families Bill to give new guarantees to parents and students for improved contact with teachers.
* A new primary curriculum to begin in 2012.
