George Osborne’s Chimney Sweep and other new abuses

SweepBy Alex Smith / @alexsmith1982

UPDATE: Douglas Alexander also claimed for a chimney sweep.

Further to my post earlier about politicians being out of touch with the sense of anger and betrayal at the relentless expense abuses – and how it’s damaging our democracy – some more specific claims to rival the extravagence of boat houses are now being unveiled.

Andrew Sparrow is keeping tabs, but says nothing particularly damaging has yet been found.

What about George Osborne’s apparent £180 claim for a Chimney Sweep?

Unless you were Dickens, you really couldn’t make it up.
