New analysis by Politics Home shows that David Cameron’s favourability lead over Gordon Brown has halved over the last 6 months since conference season; that the image of the Conservative Party has also deteriorated in several key areas since September, while Labour’s has improved; and that Cameron’s leadership performance ratings have fallen at a faster rate than the Conservative Party image and the Party’s lead in the polls.
The politics aggregator and research site also says that while the Tory leader still has a hefty advantage over his counterpart, “if the trend continued at its current rate, his performance rating would move into negative territory just before a likely election on 6 May”:
The analysis also shows that “the Tory poll lead has declined at the same time as Cameron’s performance ratings, but at a slower rate. This offers validation to the recent Tory decision to move away from such an exclusive focus on Cameron during campaigning”:
