Ed and Franny’s Green Day Out: Live Blog

By Alex Smith / @alexsmith1982

18.17 Ed & Franny answering question from Twitter:

17.50 Ed Miliband and Franny Armstrong have just wrapped up the Q&A session in Milton Keynes. Listen to AudioBoo recording of Ed discussing his day out around the South East: http://audioboo.fm/boos/122539-ed_miliband-talking-about-edandfranny-s-green-day.

16.50 Milton Keynes is the next venue for the #EdAndFranny roadshow. Audience is having a discussion with Labour PPC for Milton Keynes North, Andrew Pakes (@andrew4mk). Labour supporters on Twitter suggesting that the debate about nuclear energy has split the audience.

14.50 As we await a live stream of Ed & Franny answering climate questions in Oxford, here is a taste of the kind of questions that people have posted on Twitter this afternoon:

@greenpeaceuk: “Ed: why’s your party still supporting airport expansion?”

@ahmednuaman: “Why spend £2bn on a coal power station?”

@JS350: “How about leading unilaterally through an evidence based policy of limiting the use of our reserves to 60%?”

@peopleandplanet: “Ed: What would you do to ensure RBS lends money to companies reducing emissions rather than increasing them eg.tar sands firms?”

12.24 Ed, wrapping things up in Swindon, before moving on to Oxford.

“Let me just say one final thing. This is a choice in the end, between a Labour or a Conservative Government. It’s a choice in this area whether or not you want Ann back as an MP. She’s been a great MP. She’s been pushing me to be more radical (on the environment). It’s important in constituencies like these, if you value the environment, that you ask yourself if you want Cameron to be Prime Minister. He’s wrong on the environment, his partners in Europe are climate sceptics. I really hope if you care about the environment in this constituency, you vote for Ann.”

12:00 Ed & Franny are now in Swindon answering questions. Watch and listen live here: http://www.edspledge.com/.

10:40 Ed and Franny are on their way to Swindon, where the first event will be at Swindon Town FC.

All day today, Ed Miliband will be travelling the country (environmentally soundly, of course) with Franny Armstrong, director of ‘The Age of Stupid’ and founder of the 10:10 campaign. The aim of the day is to spread the message that climate change must be a priority – and that Labour can deliver a greener Britain.

Ed has said:

“Starting in the South West and ending in London, Franny and I will meet students, faith groups, business people and voters of all descriptions. We’ve got to use every last minute of this campaign to tell people that their vote will make a huge difference to the future of the planet. You and I know that it’s hugely important to get the message out that we need to combat climate change. Today, I’ll be using traditional meetings and live online videos to reach as many people as possible in one day.”

You can watch proceedings live at the Ed’s Pledge website, and you can take part in the conversation on Twitter with @Ed _Miliband and @FrannyArmstrong by tweeting questions to #EdandFranny.

As the day progresses, we’ll be posting updates here, including video of Ed and Franny as they have the conversation with voters – from Stroud to Brighton. Stay posted.
