Who should be Labour’s next leader? Take part in our survey

Labour Leadership PollBy Alex Smith / @alexsmith1982

UPDATE: Polling has now closed. Results will be published on Thursday, May 13th.

With Gordon Brown departing yesterday, the race to succeed him is thought to be due to begin later this afternoon.

Throughout the contest, LabourList will seek to become the one-stop shop for news, opinion and party views on the candidates, the process and the issues discussed. I will also try to interview each of the candidates at least once during the campaign.

Although LabourList will take on no editorial position and the site will remain neutral, we will be polling readers and pubishing those results – and we will seek to ensure that Labour’s grassroots supporters are properly involved, consulted and heard throughout the process.

Please take the first LabourList leadership poll now – and express your preferences at this stage for who should be next leader, and the issues that should be at the heart of the campaign.

Take the poll here.

UPDATE: Polling has now closed. Results will be published on Thursday, May 13th.

Our independent journalists have been on the ground during this local and by-election campaign, which marks the first key electoral test of Keir Starmer’s government.

We’ve been out and about with Labour activists and candidates across the country from Bristol to Hull, and will soon be heading to Cambridgeshire and Lancashire – as well as Runcorn and Helsby. We’ve also polled readers for their views on the campaign.

LabourList relies on donations from readers like you to continue its fair, fast, reliable and well-informed news and analysis. We don’t have party funding or billionaire owners.
