Next Saturday, Compass are holding their annual Robin Cook memorial conference at the Institute of Education in London.
The theme of the day is A New Hope: ideas, campaigns and coalitions needed to form a progressive consensus for the 21st century. Throughout the day, over 90 speakers will appear, including Neal Lawson, Douglas Alexander, Polly Toynbee, Chuka Umunna, Caroline Lucas and many more.
And at 2.25pm, the event will host one of the first hustings between the leadership candidates, which is sure to be one of the day’s highlights.
Will Straw and I will also be hosting our own breakout event at the conference: Forward thinking: Building the infrastructure for a progressive fightback. We’ve invited Matthew McGregor of Blue State Digital and Sian Berry of the Green Party to discuss how the centre-left can create the space in which to build a movement through its institutions, campaigns and most importantly its people. We’ll be building on some of the work we started at what’s become known as the Latimer Project, which Will wrote about for the first time yesterday.
There are only 100 tickets left for the Compass conference – so you’ll have to snap them up.
