Sad news this morning from across the political divide, as we hear that Boris Johnson’s chied oif staff – Sir Simon Milton – has died after a short illness. Our thoughts are with his loved ones. Ken Livingstone has responded to the news, saying:
“This is a very sad loss. Although of course Sir Simon came from a different political background to me I always enjoyed working with him because he was interested in what was best for Westminster and London. He was a distinguished and dedicated public servant who was respected right across London local government. His death is a huge loss to his family and friends and will sadden so many people who worked alongside him at Westminster and in City Hall who saw his commitment to public service and working for London.”
Over in the Independent this morning there’s a fascinating article about the No to AV campaign being a “Tory front”. It’s hard not to agree that there are a large number of Tories working on the campaign – as you’d expect – but there was little in that article that would come as a surprise to anyone who had been following the race closely. Perhaps no-one has been following it closely….
