Today’s the big day (for Ed and Justine that is) as the Labour leader marries his long-term partner in a private ceremony in Nottinghamshire. The only politician present will be Ed’s brother David. Ed has some good friends in the PLP so that presumably shows how private the wedding is – and how exclusive the guest list is (there are only 50 guests).
On behalf of everyone on LabourList, we’d like to wish Ed and Justine all the best for a special day, and a happy life together.
Elsewhere on an unusually quiet Friday, are you under the impression you’ll be getting a pay rise before 2015? Think again. A new report from the Resolution Foundation suggests that pay will flatline for ordinary workers for the next 4 years, as any economic recovery is unlikely to trickle down to the workforce. Bad news for the country, and for the Tories. And more squeeze on the middle.
And Gordon Brown has written an article in the Independent today on the importance of education in the third world, which is well worth a read.
