As part of our August State of the Party survey (results here), we asked you to identify the Labour MP who had impressed you the most over the last month.

This month’s winner is David Lammy.

Lammy received significant and deserved praise for his response to the Tottenham riots at the start of the month, speaking passionately in defence of his community – that was clearly remembered by LabourList readers when you made your nominations three weeks later.

Other notable mentions go to Stella Creasy (who was also praised for her handling of the riots) and last month’s winner Tom Watson (who is still receiving many nominations for his work on phone hacking).
