Sometimes it is not what politicians say. It is what they refrain from saying, with great effort. Andrew Lansley has spent most of this year in “Listening Exercises” – a revealing term in itself as it implies that the rest of the time the Government was not listening. But has he heard anything? His silent reaction to this eloquent and polite NHS worker’s point on Thursday’s BBC Question Time says it all. I present it in this 24 second video.
In that one involuntary expression, Lansley reveals himself. The clarity of disdain, the patronising sense of entitlement, the refusal to take reasonable points on board – plain to see. Also, absolutely characteristic of this arrogant, deceitful and dangerous government. Do not believe a word they say – look into their eyes instead.
