Vauxhall MP Kate Hoey has clashed with her local party over her role as Boris Johnson’s sports adviser.
According to the South London Press:
“AN OUTSPOKEN MP has incurred the wrath of her local Labour Party for refusing to stand down from Tory London Mayor Boris Johnson’s inner circle. Vauxhall’s Labour Party passed a motion last Friday demanding Vauxhall MP Kate Hoey stand down as Mr Johnson’s sports adviser. The motion called on Ms Hoey to resign “formally and permanently” before the new year.
But the Vauxhall MP since 1989 said she would not step down. Ms Hoey said: “We have got the last run of our money coming through and I will not be standing down until the end of the financial year. I will definitely see through what I have been doing.”
Vauxhall CLP chair Stephen Beer released a statement (agreed with Hoey) that said:
“Members do not want Conservatives to make political capital from her role, as appeared to happen during the last campaign. “
