A great scoop from The Sun today, who report that Foreign Secretary William Hague is set to address a rally against NHS cuts in his constituency. The paper says:
“WILLIAM Hague is to join a mass protest against NHS cuts — despite publicly backing Andrew Lansley’s health reforms.
The demo is in the Foreign Secretary’s North Yorkshire constituency on May 5.
Mr Hague opposes plans to cut kids’ care and maternity services at Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The Richmond MP will address up to 5,000 protesters at a rally and march in the town.
But it will confuse constituents who have seen him DEFENDING health service cuts in his guise as Cabinet minister. And it puts him at odds with Health Secretary Mr Lansley who wants NHS trusts to streamline services to save cash.”
