As the Tories rolled out the red carpet for Rupert Murdoch at the Olympics on Friday, it’s safe to say that it wasn’t the most humble day of his life…

But why on earth would Rupert Murdoch be interested in them? Surely not because:

• Leveson will submit his final report to the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport – Jeremy Hunt.
• Boris Johnson is “responsible for the Metropolitan Police’s priorities and performance”

I’m sure they just share a healthy interest in sport…
