Whilst the most amusing tweet to come out of the Treasury this evening was from George Osborne who was – inexplicably – tweeting a picture of a cat, the “Official CCHQ Voice for all things Treasury” was getting tied up in knots failing to answer a simple question from top economist Jonathan Portes of NIESR.
Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before the Tory Tweeter – @ToryTreasury – resorted to namecalling and personal attack, labelling Portes a “fantasist”.
In the wake of controversy over the @ToryEducation Twitter feed – which no-one in the Tory Party seems willing to take responsibility for – you’d think they’d be more careful…
