Quote of the day: No spare bedrooms for the poor – spare homes for the rich

Ed Balls hits back at plans to allow second home owners to take part in the government’s mortgage scheme – whilst carrying out the Bedroom Tax:

“The Government is basically saying that if you’ve got a spare room in a social home you’ll have to pay the bedroom tax, but if you want a spare home we’ll help you buy one.”
