Labour announces lineup of MEP candidates

Labour Party members have been voting over the past couple of months for the ranking order of the party’s candidates for next year’s European Elections. Existing MEPs automatically sit at the top of each regional list, with other candidates below them (based on the number of votes they received from party members). “Zipping” also comes into play in an attempt to ensure a gender balanced set of MEPs – Luke Akehurst has previously explained how the process works here. The order in which candidates are ranked is obviously important, as the higher up the list a candidate comes, the more likely they are to become an MEP.

Here are how Labour’s candidates will be ranked in each region:
