In a series of tweets this evening, Ed Milband has confirmed that Labour will propose its own amendment on Syria tomorrow during the parliamentary debate and vote on military action. Miliband said:
“Labour will table our own amendment on Syria in the Commons tomorrow. Our amendment will insist the Prime Minister must return to the Commons after the UN weapons inspectors have reported. Parliament must tomorrow agree criteria for action, not write a blank cheque.”
What will happen if the amendment is unsuccessful remains unclear, although there have already been rumours circulating that Labour may abstain on motion as a whole.
