Weekly Survey: The UKIP threat, immigration & welfare, and Labour’s summer campaign

have your say ll (long)

Last week, The Telegraph reported that senior strategists in the Labour Party believe that if UKIP win 9% of the vote next year, it will be enough to ensure that Miliband ends up in Downing Street.

Conor Pope believes this kind of thinking spells disaster for Labour, Mark Ferguson reported the 5 Labour seats most at risk, while Luke Akehurst set out an 8-point plan to deal with UKIP.

But what do you think? Do the Tories have more to fear from Farage than we do? Or are they going to cause us problems?

At the weekend, both Ed Balls and Rachel Reeves made comments about tightening restrictions on immigration. Reeves suggested that immigrants from the EU would not be able to start claiming benefits until they had paid into the system through National Insurance – or, in other words, have had a job in the UK.

Is this a fairer way to distribute welfare? Or is it unnecessary? Let us know.

Since Ed Miliband’s speech on “The Choice of Leadership” a couple of weeks ago, lots of Shadow Cabinet members have made speeches under the slogan “The Choice”, highlighting the differences between Labour and the Conservatives.

Is this an effective summer campaign? Is it working?

Our weekly survey will be open until noon on Thursday. You can vote here.
