Last week, The Telegraph reported that senior strategists in the Labour Party believe that if UKIP win 9% of the vote next year, it will be enough to ensure that Miliband ends up in Downing Street.
Conor Pope believes this kind of thinking spells disaster for Labour, Mark Ferguson reported the 5 Labour seats most at risk, while Luke Akehurst set out an 8-point plan to deal with UKIP.
At the weekend, both Ed Balls and Rachel Reeves made comments about tightening restrictions on immigration. Reeves suggested that immigrants from the EU would not be able to start claiming benefits until they had paid into the system through National Insurance – or, in other words, have had a job in the UK.
