Carolyn Harris selected to succeed Sian James as Labour candidate in Swansea East

Carolyn Harris

Carolyn Harris has been selected as Labour’s candidate in Swansea East for the next election. Harris was selected on an all-women shortlist and works in the constituency office of retiring MP Sian James.

Swansea East has returned a Labour MP at every election since 1922, and Harris will defend a majority of almost 11,000. James, who was recently represented in comedy film Pride, has been MP for the seat since 2005.

Harris is from the town and still lives locally. She told the the South Wales Evening Post:

“I am delighted to have been selected for the constituency and to receive the support of the constituency party, I am aim to build on Sian James’ majority of 11,000 and to work for all sectors of the community.”

LabourList would like to congratulate Harris, and commiserations to the unsuccessful candidates.
