
The Liberal Democrats have said that a demand for taxes to be raised would be a “red line” in any future coalition agreement with the Tories – in other words, there would be no coalition if the Tories didn’t agree. On top of that, Lib Dem activists seem to be keener to strike an agreement with Ed Miliband than David Cameron.
There are two by-elections this week, on in Clacton and another in Heywood and Middleton. One Labour is expected to win and one UKIP is expected to win.
