Labour’s manifesto is “just days away from being published and launched” according to Shadow Treasury minister Shabana Mahmood. The Birmingham Ladywood MP revealed that the publication of Labour’s full policy document was not far away on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning.
Speaking about yesterday’s announcement to rule out a rise in National Insurance, Mahmood said:
“Ed [Miliband] was very clear about our approach and our policy making in respect of National Insurance and also, actually, the higher rate of income tax. After PMQs we moved to make that absolutely clear and to confirm that it will be in our manifesto that is just days away from being published and launched.”
In 2010, Labour launched their manifesto on April 12th, just three weeks before the election, but Mahmood’s words suggest this one may be released a little earlier.
With Parliament breaking up for the recess today, can we expect Labour’s manifesto next week?
