Ed Miliband has hired one of Tony Blair’s former aides, The Times Red Box has reported.
The person in question is John Watts who worked as a Special Advisor to Tony Blair for two years (2005-2007) – he was responsible for organising the presentation of government events and public meetings. Prior to this he was Labour’s director of events and he was responsible for presentation during the 2005 election.
It’s thought in the run up to the general he’ll do this same job for Miliband as he did for Blair. Reportedly, he’s already begun this role, planning a number of events for Miliband so far.
A friend of Watts’ said that it’s down to him to “to stop the bacon butty moments.”
This news has come after it emerged that Alastair Campbell, former director of communication for Blair, is helping Miliband to prepare for the TV debates. The first of which takes place tonight.
