After Danny Alexander released the Tories’ secret plans on cutting the welfare budget earlier today (which included cuts to child benefit), David Cameron was again asked tonight whether he’d rule out cutting child benefit. He offered a pretty garbled response and failed to say that he wouldn’t. Again.
Labour have released a poster attacked Cameron for just this:
A spokesperson from the party has said:
“David Cameron was asked three times to rule out cuts to Child Benefit – he failed to do so on each occasion.
“He failed to rule it out because the truth is the Tories have extreme plans which mean they will cut Child Benefit and Tax Credits, hitting family budgets.
“Working people can’t afford five more years of the Tories.”
